The article that really held my attention was the “How Mark Zuckerberg Turned Facebook Into the Web’s Hottest Platform” by Fred Vogelstein. It brought up a lot of issues that are very commonly thought about by not only myself but my friends. Personally, as a Facebook user, I like it a lot. I get to keep in contact with friends from highschool, family members, and others from home while at the same time meeting new people from college. I definitely think it helps students socially. I am a huge advocate for people being social online. However, I have experienced first hand the harmful effects of that very concept. Marriages can be tested and fall apart due to online seduction. I have no problem speaking about how my parents are getting a divorce due to an old “love” of my father’s from high school finding him over the internet. This is not how the internet should be used, however beggars can’t be choosers and I do feel the positives of being social through the internet are worth putting up with the negative.
