I found the article, How Mark Zuckerberg Turned Facebook into the Web’s Hottest Platform, by Fred Vogelstein extremely interesting. The piece addresses how Facebook came to be and the many down falls it suffered. It is amazing that someone so young could have such a vision for his creation that he could turn down hundreds of millions of dollars. Zuckerberg declined a deal with Yahoo for $800 million dollars when they lowered their offer from 1 billion dollars. I really doubt I would have that much self control, thats more money than I can even dream of making in my lifetime, although teaching early childhood isn’t the most profitable career out there. Another interesting part of this article was the stated goals Zuckerberg had for his sight. He was persistent in the fact that he wanted Facebook to revolutionize the Internet and communication. Zuckerberg knew exactly how to make his site and he did each thing in order. His will to succeed was inspiring when each time he instituted a new part of his step by step goals the response was not initially favorable. Zuckerberg stuck with it and in the end prevailed. Facebook is growing exponentially is becoming more popular with different age groups daily. It’s almost the motivation I need to develop a new idea for communication. I might first need the correct education in technology before I see any bright ideas.
